TWO LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

“Obama’s words versus his deeds”

In his September 24 address to the United Nations, President Barack Obama told that world body the United States was going to return to its foundational values.  He said his administration would lead by good example.

Our country’s founders believed that we are all ‘created equal’ and endowed by God with the ‘inalienable human right to life’.  They stated that the function of government is to protect the human rights of the people.

Since becoming president, Obama has reinstated U.S. taxpayer funding for foreign population control groups that practice or promote preborn child killing.  He has also accelerated taxpayer funding of embryonic stem cell research, which kills a human embryo when the stem cell is removed.

That is not enough for Obama.  He now wants taxpayer to pay to kill pre born American children under his national, compulsory health care bill.

Killing preborn babies is not an American value.  Abortion destroys all human and civil rights of the unborn.  Once again, Obama’s eloquent words mask his evil deeds.

Pelosi on ‘civility’

U.S. house of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently commented on how ‘uncivil’ our culture has become.  She tearfully said these times remind her of a few years ago when the mayor of her home town and a city supervisor were assassinated.

That certainly was a sad day for San Francisco.  However, why does the Speaker not also shed copious tears for the millions of preborn children killed by the pr abortion policies she and the Democratic Party have enacted?

The other day, the media posed the question “Why has our society become so uncivilized?”  Many people believe it goes back to the 1973 Roe vs. Wade U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing parental, pre born child killing.

Mother Teresa stated years ago “when a nation allows parents to kill their children, how can you say any lesser crime is wrong?”  The late John Paul II also said that “When a country permits parents to kill their children, there is no hope for the future.

The first step in returning to civility is overturning the Roe decision which takes away all human and civil rights from preborn Americans.  Let us then renew our commitment to our nation’s foundational principles that the God given human right to life is inalienable and that the primary function of government is to protect the human rights of the people.

OPEN LETTER FROM DR. CHARLES E. RICE TO FR. JOHN I. JENKINS

Open letter from Dr. Charles E. Rice to Fr. John I. Jenkins

An open letter from Dr. Charles E. Rice, Professor Emeritus of Notre Dame Law School, to Fr. John Jenkins, President of University of Notre Dame:

Open Letter to Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., President, University of Notre Dame

September 21, 2009

Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C.
President
University of Notre Dame
Notre Dame, Indiana 46556

Dear Father Jenkins:

Professor Fred Freddoso has shared with me the response on Sept. 17th by Dr. Frances L. Shavers, Chief of Staff and Special Assistant to the President, to Fred’s email of that date to you asking that Notre Dame request dismissal of the charges against the persons arrested for trespass on the campus in relation to the honoring of President Obama at Commencement.  Dr. Shavers responded on your behalf to Fred’s email because, as she said, “the next few days are rather hectic for [Fr. Jenkins].”  I don’t want to add to the hectic burden of your schedule by sending you a personal message that could impose on an assistant the task of responding.  I therefore take the liberty of addressing to you several concerns in the form of this open letter to which a response is neither required nor expected.

First, permit me to express my appreciation for the expressions of support for the pro-life cause in your September 16th “Letter concerning post-commencement initiatives.”  I know, however, that in a matter as significant as this, you will appreciate and welcome a respectful but very candid expression of views.  In my opinion, the positions you have taken are deficient in some respects.

In your Letter of Sept. 16th, you rightly praise the work of the Women’s Care Center (WCC) and of its superb leader, Ann Murphy Manion.  I commend you on your statement that the WCC “and similar centers in other cities deserve the support of Notre Dame clubs and individuals.”  Your praise of the WCC and similar efforts, however, overlooks a practical step that Notre Dame, as an institution, ought to take.  That would be for you, on behalf of Notre Dame, to issue a standing invitation to the WCC to establish an office on the Notre Dame campus to serve students, faculty and staff if, in the judgment of the WCC, that would be desirable and effective.  Such would give practical effect, right here at Notre Dame, to your words in support of the WCC and similar efforts.

Your Letter announced your formation of the Task Force on Supporting the Choice for Life.  Rather than offer a detailed evaluation of my own, I note my agreement with the personal analysis of William Dempsey, ND ’52, President of the Sycamore Trust, calling attention to “the obviously deliberate exclusion from Task Force membership of anyone associated with the ND organizations that have been unashamedly and actively pro-life: the Center for Ethics & Culture and the ND Fund for the Protection of Human Life.  Nor was the student representative chosen from the leadership of the student RTL organization or from anyone active in last year’s student alliance protesting the honoring of the President, ND Response.  It is hard to resist the inference that this is as a move toward marginalizing the Center and the Fund, neither of which receives any University support the way it is…. Finally, it is unsettling but instructive that this announcement comes a day after Fr. Jenkins’ annual address to the faculty in which he described his goals for the year, which included increasing female and minority faculty representation but not a word about the most crucial problem facing the university, the loss of Catholic identity through the failure to hire enough Catholics to restore the predominance required by the Mission Statement.  This is a striking falling away from [Fr. Jenkins’] wonderful inaugural address.  The fact that ND did nothing to serve the pro-life cause until forced by the reaction to the Obama incident testifies to the fact that, without a predominance of committed Catholics on the faculty, any pro-life efforts launched under pressure will in time fade away.  The risk, and surely it is real, is that this initiative and the publicity ND is generating about it will deflect attention from the fundamental problem besetting Notre Dame….But I return to where I began: A project that deliberately excludes from participation those who have courageously manned organizations standing against the faculty attitude toward the pro-life cause ought to be regarded with suspicion.”

My main concern in this letter arises from your statement in your Letter that “Each year on January 22, the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision, the March for Life is held in Washington D.C. to call on the nation to defend the right to life.  I plan to participate in that march.  I invite other members of the Notre Dame Family to join me and I hope we can gather for a Mass for Life at that event.”  I understand that Notre Dame students have invited you to participate with them in the March.  The problem arises from an aftermath of Commencement.  On this I refer back to Chief of Staff Shavers’ response to Professor Freddoso’s request that Notre Dame ask dismissal of the charges against those arrested.  Dr. Shavers states that “these protesters were arrested for trespassing and not for expressing their pro-life position.”  That is misleading.  This is not an ordinary case of trespass to land such as would occur if a commuter walks across your lawn and flower bed as a short-cut to the train station.  Notre Dame is ordinarily an open campus.  Those 88 persons, 82 of whom are represented by Tom Dixon, ND ’84, ND Law School ’93, were arrested not because they were there, but because of who they were, why they were there and what they were saying.  Other persons with pro-Obama signs were there but were not arrested and not disturbed.  Serious legal and constitutional questions are involved, arising especially from the symbiotic relationship between the Notre Dame Security Police, who made the arrests, and the County Police.  This letter is not a legal brief.  Rather I merely note that it is disingenuous for Notre Dame to pretend that this is merely a routine trespass case.

The confusion is compounded by Dr. Shavers’ statement that “Under Indiana law, however, Notre Dame is not the complainant in these matters and so is not in any position to drop or dismiss the charges.”  That sentence is half-true and half-false.  Notre Dame is the complaining victim of the alleged trespass.  Whether to dismiss the charges, of course, is for the prosecutor to decide.

Dr. Shavers states that “Notre Dame officials have been in regular contact with the prosecutor’s office on these matters, and, in consultation with the University, the prosecutor has offered Pre-Trial Diversion to those for whom the May incident was a first-time offense.  As described by the prosecutor, this program does not require the individual to plead guilty or go through a trial; rather, the charges are dropped after one year so long as the individual does not commit another criminal offense.  We understand that most of those arrested have chosen not to take advantage of this offer and obviously we cannot force them to do so.  In essence, the choice of whether or not to go to trial belongs to the defendants.”

Pre-trial diversion could change their status as convicted criminals.  But it is only because of the actions of Notre Dame that they are treated by the law as criminals in the first place.  Notre Dame continues to subject those defendants to the criminal process.  If they entered pretrial diversion they would each have to pay hundreds of dollars in costs, which would amount in effect to a fine imposed on them, with the concurrence of Notre Dame, for praying.  Most of the 88 are in straitened financial circumstances.  The imposition on them of such a fine would be a serious hardship.  Instead, Notre Dame ought to state publicly that it has no interest in seeing those prosecutions proceed in any form and that it requests the prosecutor to exercise his discretion to dismiss all those charges unconditionally.  Given the prospect of 88 or so separate jury trials, probably not consolidated, in cases involving potentially serious legal and constitutional issues, such a request by Notre Dame would surely be appreciated by the taxpayers of St. Joseph County.

Those 88 defendants were on the other side of the campus, far removed from the site of the Commencement.  They are subjected by Notre Dame to the criminal process because they came, as individuals, to Notre Dame to pray, peacefully and non-obstructively, on this ordinarily open campus, in petition and reparation, as a response to what they rightly saw as a facilitation by Notre Dame of various objectively evil policies and programs of Notre Dame’s honoree, President Obama.  Those persons, whom Notre Dame has subjected to legal process as criminals, are neither statistics nor abstractions.  Let me tell you about a few of them.

Fr. Norman Weslin, O.S., 79 years old and in very poor health, was handcuffed by Notre Dame Security Police as he sang “Immaculate Mary” on the campus sidewalk near the entrance.  He asked them, “Why would you arrest a Catholic priest for trying to stop the killing of a baby?”  The NDSP officers put him on a pallet and dragged him away to jail.  St. Joseph County Police were also there.  I urge you to watch the readily available videos of Fr. Weslin’s arrest.  If you do, I will be surprised and disappointed if you are not personally and deeply ashamed.

Such treatment of such a priest may be the lowest point in the entire history of Notre Dame.  You would profit from knowing Fr. Weslin.  Notre Dame should give Fr. Weslin the Laetare Medal rather than throw him in jail.  Norman Weslin, born to poor Finnish immigrants in upper Michigan, finished high school at age 17 and joined the Army.  He converted from the Lutheran to the Catholic faith and married shortly after earning his commission.  He became a paratrooper and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the 82nd Airborne Division, obtaining his college degree enroute.  After a distinguished career, he retired in 1968.  As the legalization of abortion intensified, he and his wife, Mary Lou, became active pro-lifers in Colorado.  In 1980, Mary Lou was killed by a drunk driver.  Norman personally forgave the young driver.  Norman Weslin was later ordained as a Catholic priest, worked with Mother Teresa in New York and devoted himself to the rescue of unborn children through nonviolent, prayerful direct action at abortuaries.  In 1990 at Christmastime, I was privileged to defend Fr. Weslin and his Lambs of Christ when they were arrested at the abortuary in South Bend.  One does not have to agree with the tactic of direct, non-violent action at abortuaries to have the utmost admiration, as I have, for Fr. Weslin and his associates.  At Notre Dame, Fr. Weslin engaged in no obstruction or disruption.  He merely sought to pray for the unborn on the ordinarily open campus of a professedly Catholic university.  The theme of Notre Dame’s honoring of Obama was “dialogue.”  It would have been better for you and the complicit Fellows and Trustees to dialogue with Fr. Weslin rather than lock him up as a criminal.  You all could have learned something from him.  His actions in defense of innocent life and the Faith have been and are heroic.  Notre Dame’s treatment of Fr. Weslin is a despicable disgrace, the responsibility for which falls directly and personally upon yourself as the President of Notre Dame.

The other “criminals” stigmatized by Notre Dame include many whom this university should honor rather than oppress.  One is Norma McCorvey, the plaintiff in Roe v. Wade, who has become pro-life and a Catholic actively trying to spread the word about abortion.  Those “criminals” include retired professors, retired military officers, mothers of many children, a Catholic nun in full habit, Christian pastors, several Ph.Ds, and Notre Dame grads.  They are, in summary, “the salt of the earth.”  They came, on their own, at their own expense, and not as part of any “conspiracy,” from 18 states.  They came because they love what Notre Dame claims to represent.  They themselves do represent it.  But one has to doubt whether Notre Dame does so anymore.

Clearly, Notre Dame should do all it can to obtain the dismissal of those criminal charges.  This has nothing to do with one’s opinion of the tactics of rescue at abortuaries.  It is simply a matter of you, as President, doing the manifestly right thing.

Please permit me to speak bluntly about your announced purpose to participate in the March for Life and to “invite other members of the Notre Dame Family to join me.”  Notre Dame should have had an official presence at every March for Life since 1973.  But until now it never has.  Notre Dame students, with the encouragement of Campus Ministry, participate in the March but the University, as such, has not done so.  To put it candidly, it would be a mockery for you to present yourself now at the March, even at the invitation of Notre Dame students, as a pro-life advocate while, in practical effect, you continue to be the jailer, as common criminals, of those persons who were authentic pro-life witnesses at Notre Dame.  When the picture of Fr. Weslin’s humiliation and arrest by your campus police was flashed around the world it did an incalculable damage to Notre Dame that can be partially undone only by your public and insistent request, as President of Notre Dame, that the charges be dropped.  In my opinion your attachment to the March for Life, including your offering of a Mass for Life, could give scandal in the absence, at least, of such an insistent request to dismiss those charges.  Your decision to present an official Notre Dame presence at the March could be beneficial, but not in the context of an unrelenting criminalization by Notre Dame of sincere and peaceful friends of Notre Dame whose offense was their desire to pray, on the campus, for the University and all concerned including yourself.  If you appear at the March as the continuing criminalizer of those pro-life witnesses, you predictably will earn not approbation but scorn—a scorn which will surely be directed toward Notre Dame as well.  As long as you pursue the criminalization of those pro-life witnesses, your newest pro-life statements will be regarded reasonably as a cosmetic covering of the institutional anatomy in the wake of the continuing backlash arising from your conferral of Notre Dame’s highest honor on the most relentlessly pro-abortion public official in the world.

In conclusion, this letter is not written in a spirit of contention.  It is written rather in the mutual concern we share for Notre Dame—and for her university.  I hope you will reconsider your positions on these matters. Our family prays for you by name every night.  And we wish you success in the performance of your obligations to the University and all concerned.

                    Sincerely,

                    Charles E. Rice

The Man to See at Ground Zero” in the Battle between Satan and the Blessed Mother at Notre Dame

By Missy Smith

This story begins almost three years ago with a phone call, innuendoes and half- truths.  Although, I had been involved in the pro-life movement for ten years I didn’t know Randall Terry.  He had moved to the Washington area and was resurfacing in the pro-life movement.  Over the course of a year or so, I heard of different projects he was involved in, and when asked to participate I was hesitant to get involved.  As time went on I even repeated things I had heard which turned out not to be true. Finally, a dear friend said to me, "Missy, you are married to a lawyer and you know there are always two sides to every story."  I was a bit embarrassed that she was right, and I had been called out. Somehow that opened the blockage, and after a few starts and stops, Randall asked me to come to his home, meet his wife and family and talk.  He candidly said his stock was low and asked for my support. I said I would do what I could.

This meeting took place before the January 20, 2009 inauguration of Obama. At that time Randall asked me if I would participate in the “First 100 Days Rosary Project,” which was everyday at the same time in front of the White House saying the rosary at 12:30 PM  beginning on Inauguration Day and running through April 29, 2009.  I said I would, but thought to myself that it was a big commitment to stop all my projects, and be downtown in the traffic to find a parking place and say the rosary every single day.  I wondered what I had gotten myself into.

January 20, 2009 came, and I found myself, giving an interview on Sirius Radio at 16th and H streets amidst an ocean of excited people screaming, "Yes We Can!"  Randall, Joseph Landry, Diana Roccograndi and I went through security and were placed in a "Protest Cage" that had been set up and fenced off at one corner of Lafayette Park directly across the street from St. John's Church, known as the “church of presidents.” As it turned out, we were the only ones in the so called "Protest Cage." We wandered around until we found ourselves in a corner with a bird’s eye view of the church entrance.  There was every possible media outlet and police power present waiting  for the president and his wife to emerge.

Before I knew it, there were Michelle and Barack Obama two hundred feet from us. They looked directly into our eyes and we shouted in unison, "OBAMA, ABORTION IS MURDER!" over and over again.  Both of them looked at us and were startled. It was a moment in time, and they immediately pulled their heads in  embarrassment and jumped into their limo and drove off.  What a wonderful feeling to have the chance, by God's graces, to give witness to His truth!

It was cold that day and for many days after.  I had dreaded my commitment to these 100 days but somehow I felt the Holy Spirit gently urging me to follow through, and everyday I miraculously found a legal parking place near the park. I learned to dress warmly and expect rain and wind. But each day as we gathered, I heard the beautiful meditations from the heart of a real “Warrior for Life.”  I heard the humility as he asked God for the guidance to fulfill His wishes -- not ours but His. This man who was a new Catholic, had such an impressive and profound knowledge of the Bible and of our faith and spoke it with such conviction.

Somehow, I could only think of how this was true transparency.  Spending time praying with someone day in and day out gives one a true understanding of that person’s heart. As he spoke the meditations before each decade of the rosary, I was ashamed of my own rush to judgment that I had made. At the most, we had six people join us, and many times just one or two, but every day for 100 days someone was there to carry out our promise to pray for the new administration since we all knew the first 100 days of any administration is so important.  We would meet at the General Jackson statue and sometimes walked across Pennsylvania Avenue and  standing next to the fence surrounding the White House, always gaining an immense sense of peace during and after reciting  the rosary, as Mary led us through the life of Jesus. My dread soon turned to joy and anticipation.

A side trip to Rome, of a delegation of nine led by Randall Terry, to meet with nine Vatican officials, proved to be  incredibly successful, especially an interview with Archbishop Raymond Burke, head of the Papal Court, who allowed an interview to be videotaped to be used by Randall on his radio show, television show and as a means of encouragement to the increasingly dwindling pro-life movement in America.  All focus was on Canon 915 which states Holy Communion must never be given to any public person in a state of grave sin, such as, our Catholic pro-abortion politicians.  Archbishop Burke was gracious but firm, on Canon 915 and that it was not up to interpretation by individual Bishops but up to the Eucharistic Minister to deny Holy Communion.

This was clarification of a big controversy going on, with the bishops of the USCCB coming down on different sides of the issue. So now the head of the Papal Court wasa on tape, and there could be no mistaking what should be done.
Holy Communion could not be given to the likes of Pelosi, Kennedy, Dowd, Biden, Kerry and Sibelius.  This was explosive.  On Randall’s return he called a press conference at the National Press Club and ran the footage from the interview with Burke as well as answered questions from the press.  Not many were supportive, and reporting errors appeared in some publications.  But it was out there for the world to see.  The angels in heaven were happy, and the pro-lifers on earth were ecstatic. How often were they saddened and demoralized as Catholic legislators came to receive the "greatest gift," as Archbishop Burke said, “Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist,” as they supported and legalized the slaughter of children. Our bishops did nothing to stop them. What a scandal!

The devil was busy on each corner, trying to discredit our leader, the one with the courage and the wisdom to go after the shepherds who had abandoned their sheep.  No matter, Randall would carry on despite the lies, fighting the good fight for the babies.

In the midst of the excitement about the Burke interview, we received word that Notre Dame, Our Lady's most prestigious Catholic university, had invited President Obama to speak at the commencement exercises and to receive an honorary degree.  The authentic Catholic world was horrified.

Immediately Randall Terry had found the battle line he was looking for. The pro-life movement was dying and had suffered crushing blows at the hands of the new president.  Something had to jump-start it.  This most recent affront presented a focal point to re-energize prolife Catholics and to mobilize them to fight for their faith and against the “culture of death” and its standard bearer, President Obama. This treachery could be the very thing that could bring national attention to the evil that was at every corner surrounding us.  The new president had lifted the Mexico City Policy barely forty-eight hours after becoming president, giving our tax dollars to countries around the world even China where they do forced child killing.   Former President Bush’s restrictions on embryonic stem cell research were lifted.    Parts of FOCA (Freedom of Choice Act) were being implemented daily and cabinet members were being appointed each and everyone with a heavy child killing agenda. some with strong ties to the abortion industry, and some claiming to be Catholic.

Randall Terry, his wife Andrea and their four little boys took to the road in their RV to go to  South Bend, Indiana to scope out the situation.  He asked me to keep up the presence at  Lafayette Park in front of the White House with the rosary while he was gone.  With the steady help of Dick Retta and others, we continued our daily vigilance.

Before long, Randall had been given a commercial space in South Bend to use for his office to do mailings and continue with his weekly radio show.  Soon he rented a house two blocks from the Notre Dame entrance which would house many and be a central meeting place. He was on the ground in South Bend, and the StopObamaNotreDame.com project had a life of its own.  The general” was making things happen, behind the scenes, as only he could.  He continued to do his daily radio show and travel to South Bend to make sure things were progressing. He and his beautiful, faithful wife would make the eleven-hour trip back and forth from South Bend numerous times to make sure things were in place.  His energy was astounding, and, yet, every day he was in town he was in front of the White House, saying the rosary over and over again, begging God's help and direction. I was humbled by what I witnessed.

My loyalty and respect for the “general” was deepening everyday.  But we worried.  We still didn't have the traction we needed and we were only seventeen days out from the graduation speech.  Randall's assistant, Tui, had gone on campus with a stroller carrying a baby doll covered with stage bloodShe had wheeled it around campus and through the cafeteria as students gasped and said, "Did you see that?" She made it to Father Jenkins' office before the Notre Dame police caught up with her and gave her a warning.  This was it!  The following day Randall and Bill Kee went on campus with strollers and baby dolls covered with stage blood.  They were arrested and put into jail.  As Randall prayed the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary, he begged God to intervene and help jump start this project.  That night I heard Greta Van Susteren headline Randall's arrest over and over again.  After his release from jail on bond, I called Randall and told him he was on Fox TV.  We stayed on the phone and I gave him a blow-by-blow.  Greta kept it up for a long time, saying "Someone we know has been arrested!" while showing a clip of a policeman carrying the confiscated baby stroller with one hand and the other on Randall.

It wasn't long before Randall and Bill were released on bond, and an idea was born.  Soon the many, many rosaries would be answered. Something so big, that only God could have ordained it to happen.

Ambassador Alan Keyes heard about the arrest of Randall. He would write a letter in which he stated that he "feels bound in conscience to make a commitment and call to all who labor in defense of the God-given and unalienable right to life. The arrest of pro-life servant Randall Terry, Father Jenkins and the University Administration at Notre Dame take their adulation of evil to a new level of spiritual atrocity.  Instead of cringing inwardly at Randall Terry's bold willingness to be arrested for bearing witness to God's truth, those who understand the gift of Christ's words and example must be moved to imitate his boldness.

Tragically, ironically, a supposedly Catholic university and its administration have stepped forward to be the Bull Connor of this era's most clear and pressing battle for God-given human rights.  They have declared it an offense peacefully to demonstrate the evil of abortion. They have declared it an offense, prayerfully to bear witness to the truth on a campus supposedly guided by and subordinate to that truth.  Though it is an offense to them, it is a duty to truth, and to Christ and to God. Whenever there are faithful hearts drawn to do this duty, they must feel now the vocation to join Randall Terry in defiance of this intimidation.  I have prayed and labored for the unborn to join us. I know you are there.  I have broken bread with you at dinners for crisis pregnancy centers and right-to-life groups.  I have marched with you to proclaim the sanctity of innocent life, and decry the laws that sanction its destruction.

I will go to South Bend.  I will step foot on the Notre Dame campus to lift up the standard that protects the life of the innocent children of this and every generation.  I will do it all day and every day until, if it be God's will, shame and the Love of Christ overcome the university administration's vain craving for iniquitous "honor."  I will do it though it means I shall be housed every day in the prison house of lies and injustice that Obama, Jenkins and their minions now mean to construct for those who will never be still and silent in the face of their mockery of God and justice, their celebration of evil."

These words were embedded in an e-mail from Randall and immediately jumped into my heart.  I called Randall, and he said to come right away. I spoke to my husband, and he gave permission but asked that I not get arrested!   I then had to explain going to get arrested was the purpose. He nodded his approval and understanding.  Before the end of the day I was in Chicago and heading towards South Bend. That was May 6th.  May 7th was filled with a press conference in Fort Wayne in front of the Cathedral where we had hoped to have an appointment with Bishop D'Arcy.  It didn't take place, but the press conference did.  Then we traveled to Rome City to the Shrine where Our Lady of America appeared to Sister Mildred, then back to South Bend for another press conference in front of Notre Dame where Dr. Keyes received a warning about being  arrested if he stepped on campus.

The next day we processed with 22 strollers with baby dolls covered with stage blood from the Frances Street house.  There were many participants with twenty-two agreeing to get arrested. As we headed onto the campus we could see the Notre Dame police waiting for us.  We held our heads up high and continued with the rosary.

It wasn't long before Dr. Keyes was in handcuffs, and the other 21 of us were too. We were taken to the St. Joseph's County Jail, booked and placed into holding cells.  Ten hours later we were all released on bond.  The news got out that Dr. Keyes had been arrested, and someone called in and paid his bond.  The story hit the papers, and pictures were everywhere on the internet.

The following week was the same drill except this time we had beautiful banners of Our Lady of Guadalupe calling to defend her honor with the precious "Jesus Christ Crucified in the Womb" on the bottom of the banner.  This time 21 of us were arrested. Some of us, having been arrested a second time, including myself and Dr. Alan Keyes, were eventually put into solitary confinement with the admonition we would not be released until Monday when we would go before the judge.

All the while Randall was working feverishly to get this in front of the American people.  There was amazing coverage twenty-four hours a day on Fox TV of the arrests of all of us, and now a newcomer to the scene was the 80-year-old priest, Father Norman Weslin, who had been arrested 90 times for standing up for the babies.  The TV cameras zeroed in on Father Weslin as the police hand cuffed him and carried him away.  He was heard around the world saying, "You are arresting a Catholic priest for standing up for the babies.”  Wow!  Every heart in America was touched when they saw this over and over again.

STOPOBAMANOTREDAME dominated the news from Friday, May 15, at 11:45  through May 18, 2009,  with a handful of committed, dedicated pro-lifers all giving of their time and effort, led by one man, who was on the ground for seven weeks, praying, planning and setting this battle into motion, our ‘general’ and leader, Randall Terry.

Little did anyone know that “the man behind the curtain” was Randall except

for: Joseph Landry, who was constantly updating the websites, creating more graphics; Jeanne and Bill Kee, and Sue Cyr who were organizing those of us who were determined to be arrested, and, of course, his wife Andrea, who was totally aware of the time and effort he was setting forth as she was keeping up with her four precious little boys. One can only imagine!

Ambassador Alan Keyes, Norma McCorvey, Father Norman Weslin, Joan Andrews Bell and all of us would not have been there and we would not have dominated the news for over four days had it not been for our “David” against this “Goliath;” and, the whole world would have believed erroneously that this treachery by Notre Dame was all right with the Catholic world.

Although, criticized, maligned and lied about, Randall Terry, is the 'Man to See' in this most decisive battle for man's soul, and certainly he was “The Man To See at Ground Zero” in the battle between Satan and the Blessed Mother at Notre Dame University, Spring 2009!  God bless Randall Terry!

NOTRE DAME 88 STILL MAKING NEWS

George Offerman

The strategies employed by Randall Terry to focus the nation on the issue of abortion are bearing positive fruits.  The fact that several websites have been created with the intention of getting Fr. Jenkins to drop the charges is positive proof that many of the faithful have not ‘put this behind them” as Fr. Jenkins would like and has claimed he has done.

The recent Pro life ‘initiative’ that Fr Jenkins has proposed also is proof that despite his claims, Fr Jenkins has not been able to put this behind either.  This has given hope to some who believed the efforts of the 88 would be a flash in the pan and fairly forgotten once the speech was given.  Evidently, many have underestimated the power of faith, prayers, and convictions of the people willing to sacrifice time, money and reputation in being arrested.

It is becoming more apparent to those paying attention in the pro life movement, that Notre Dame actually was ‘ground zero’ for the battle against legalized child killing, and truly was a special moment in time, that very well may define this epic battle for years to come.  It was evident in the fact that Obama had to discuss abortion in his speech, and Fr Jenkins had to act on the protests in order for the speech to happen in the first place.

These tactics were effective and continue to be so, as the court system has to decide whether to proceed with Jury trials and whether to take the heat for Notre Dame if jail sentences are handed down for the 88.  The interesting part to this is, the CRB plane and the 2 mile long protest sponsored by PLAL are not at all in the discussion, nor are the numerous ‘bloggers’ that were critical of the tactics used.

When history records this event, they will not even warrant mentioning, because they did not create the social tension necessary to bring about negotiation and changes in the law that arresting innocent people does.  What the moderates in the pro life movement don’t seem to understand or grasp is the need to use tactics that are proportional to the crime.  Babies really lose their life, and by nature, their liberty.  For those of us alive, we then must risk losing some of our liberties in order to leverage our ability to raise the consciousness of a nation in sin to repentance.

People in the country are not going to remember marches, planes, petitions and bloggers who effectively play by the rules set by the current power brokers, they will remember those that defied the rules of the power brokers, and this in effect is seared into their consciousness, and creates an inner tension that must be resolved.  Most of the pro life people are afraid to do this, and it shows in the fact that legalized child killing is in little danger of being ended any time soon.

For this movement to be successful, we in the pro life movement need to get on board with the tactics that cause social tension, and have staying power.  There must be a definitive plan in place and strategies used that will result in the overturning of Roe. I would personally encourage all to look at the Insurrecta Nex series found on www.overturnroe.com and implement the strategies suggested.  We already know the current strategies are ineffective, and it is time to take this battle to the next level.  We also need to act as if our lives depend on it, because our lives do depend on it.

It seems the opportunity is arising, and as Christians, we are required by the Living God to act on this.  Let’s pray that we have the time, and support the Notre Dame 88 in both prayers and actions. Join those who understand that legalized child killing needs to end and be willing to go, be and do what God wants from you.

WHAT DID JESUS DO?

George Offerman

The rage 10 years ago was the bracelet which was inscribed with the letters WWJD, what would Jesus do?  Many people proudly wore them as outward signs of their Christianity and some admitted that the mere presence of the bracelet often changed their behaviors, as they wanted to be a witness to their beliefs. However, this raises the question: How would we know what Jesus would want us to do if we don’t know what Jesus did?

Jesus was the epitome of perfection, and the central theme of Christianity is the imitation of Jesus, or the personal walk with Jesus.  Where did Jesus walk, and what does he want from us?

Jesus incorporated many different characteristics and demonstrated perfect understanding, not only of scriptures, but of human behavior.  In no way, did Jesus demonstrate passive behavior, nor did he ‘look the other way’ when sin was committed. In fact, throughout scripture, Jesus had the harshest words for the religious leaders, who had a propensity of leading the flock astray with false teachings.

Jesus used strong rhetoric towards the religious leaders of that time.  In Matthew 12:34 Jesus refers to the Pharisees as a ‘brood of vipers”.  John 8:44 “You belong to your father the devil and you want to carry out your father’s desires”. Matthew 23:27 “for you are unto like white sepulchers…”  This is confrontational in its nature, and Jesus modeled the proper approach when dealing with the religious authorities.    Jesus did not mince his words, due to his identifying the sinfulness of the religious authorities, and was not concerned whether he was in their good graces or not.

Jesus used strong mental images in his parables.  This was the clearest when Jesus gave the parable of the Rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31).   Jesus was slamming the High Priest at the time, and clearly identified him by the references of “dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day”.  Upon the rich man’s death, he called out to “father Abraham” meaning the man in the parable had to be Jewish.  Jesus also identified the rich man as having 5 brothers in his house, which was true of the sitting High Priest at that time.  Finally, Jesus alluded that the High Priest was not going to paradise, but to hell, and the beggar was to take his place in heaven.  The Pharisees and High Priest clearly understood this veiled parable, yet Jesus spoke the truth, and did not back down.

Jesus used strong behaviors, the most “blatant’ being the cleansing of the temple. (Mark 11:15-19, Matthew 21:12-15, Luke 19: 45-46, John 2:13-17) All the Gospels reflect Jesus, upon seeing the iniquity in the temple made a whip of cord, overturned tables and drove out the money changers, chastising them as a den of thieves and robbers.  Jesus demonstrated righteous anger and utilized behaviors that met the threshold of force needed to address the current situation.  In this, Jesus committed no sins, but gave a template for his followers to adhere to.

Looking at Jesus’ use of words, rhetoric and tactics, we begin to get an understanding of what our calling to be Christians is really about.  Many well intentioned Christian leaders and clergy would rather over look these lessons, and advocate for a more ‘moderate’ way of doing activities, protests, or standing up for the faith.  But it is very difficult to look at the zeal Jesus held for the word of God and then believe we should do less.

Jesus loved the world so much that he gave his life for it (John 3:16).  Should we not also hold to this standard?  After all, Jesus did say the servant (us) is not greater than the master (Jesus, God) and we are to expect the same persecution, but same reward for doing his works and following his teachings.  Watering down the message of Jesus is not something he would do, for he did not do it.  The next time one asks “What would Jesus do?”, he would be wise to consider first what Jesus did.

NOTRE DAME SHAME
Reprinted from Signs and Wonders for our Times magazine, Vol 20 Fall/Winter 2009

George Offerman

It was a cool, cloudy day when we pulled up to “headquarters” on Francis Street.  Outside of the house, there was already a gathering of 30+ people, most of whom were going to most likely be arrested.  We had been informed the night before that we would go onto the Notre Dame campus and pray the rosary.

Around noon, we began to line up and take our signs that depicted Our Lady of Guadalupe along with the crucified Christ in the womb.  Father said a prayer requesting divine guidance for our cause, and we began the 3 block walk to the main gate of Notre Dame.  We started out by praying the Rosary and reflected on the sorrowful mysteries.

When we were a block away, we could see a significant gathering ahead, made up mostly of pro lifers, media, and a few counter protesters.  Randall Terry was leading the procession, praying the Rosary over the bull horn.  Dr. Alan Keyes led those ready to enter campus and Fr. Norman Weslin was carrying a life size cross with assistance from 2 men.

We reached the main gate and deliberately left the last decade to pray once entering the campus.  Randall Terry spoke initially, encouraging us to proceed on with courage and reminding us of our just cause.  Dr. Keyes then spoke and admonished Fr. Jenkins for the injustice done previously and the injustice ready to take place.  We could see the police line ahead of us, and the large bus prepared to take us to jail.

We proceeded onto the campus praying the final decade and reached the police line as we recited the “Glory Be.”  The police officers ordered us to halt, informed us of trespassing, and ordered us off the property.  When asked if we understood this most, including myself, said “no.” How could we be trespassing when we are praying the Rosary on a Catholic campus?  None the less, we were handcuffed and lead to the location of the bus, where we were processed.  Fr. Weslin asked the question, “How can a priest (Fr. Jenkins) have another priest arrested for praying?  This is not right.” Fr. Weslin then started to sing the “Ave Maria.”

We were placed on the bus one at a time, and a few made comments concerning how tight our “handcuffs”  were.  The handcuffs used were nylon shoe strings, and cut off circulation if too tight.  I reflected on how our Lord must have felt as he was bound and lead away.  I sat next to Dr. Keyes who discussed the injustice of this, and why we really needed to bring this Obamination to the consciousness of the Christian community.  Fr. Weslin was taken to a separate van, and was somewhat man handled by the officers.  We were concerned for Fr. Weslin’s safety, and began to yell out the bus door.  The police then seemed to treat Fr. Weslin better and loaded him onto the van.

We then were taken the 2 to 3 miles to the – ironically, named – St. Joseph’s County jail.  After being checked for weapons and contraband, were put into a large, concrete holding cell.  Arrested were 17 men and 5 women on this day, Friday, May 15.

While in the holding cell, we had many good conversations, prayers, and singing.  Others came into the holding cell and many ignored us.  A few watched us and asked questions, and one young man with a 5 year old daughter had a conversion experience after agreeing to be prayed over.

Fr. Weslin was not looking well, and all of us encouraged him to bond out, or allow someone to bond him out.  Fr. Weslin replied “I’m the last man standing and will not leave until all are out.” We were thankful that Fr. Weslin was bonded out later in the evening, but could see the disappointment on his face when this happened.

Prior to leaving, Fr. Weslin told me personally how the Lord chose me, and the others, to be here at this moment in history, and that it will reverberate in eternity.  Fr. Weslin was very comforting in his words, and it became more apparent to me, how great this man is.

Seventeen of us went in, and by the time we had to be assigned cells, only 7 of us remained.  In the jail there are no clocks, the lights are bright, and the temperature was cold.  It was difficult to know what time it was or to know what was going on.  Several of us noticed large booms, and I commented how this may be thunder.  We later found out severe thunderstorms and a tornado warning occurred.  The Sheriffs kept coming around and asking us if we planned on bonding out.  We replied “no”  and around 10 PM they led us to the housing unit in the jail.

We were given a thin mat, a small blanket, and a few “personal items” in a net bag and led to our cells.  Dr. Keyes and 3 others were taken 2 hours before the 3 of us, and we were hoping we would be in the same block as they were.

We were led back down a long concrete corridor to the “G” block.  Upon going in, we were jeered by inmates who yelled “are you the protestors?” and then other statements and gestures unprintable.  We were also subjected to loud chants of “Obama, Obama” as we entered the G-08 cell block.  Much to our relief, we saw Dr. Keyes and the other 3 at a table praying.  I was roomed with another pro life gentleman and took the top bunk.

The jail “pod” was circular and has 8 cell blocks in the shape of an octagon.  The blocks do not have bars but thick glass, and inmates in other cell blocks could see us.  Prior to lights out at 10:30 these inmates were very hostile, and again, subjected us to shouts and gestures.

I did not sleep at all, staring at the concrete ceiling and seeing lightening out of the tiny window in the cell.  I prayed a lot and contemplated our Lord’s passion and how he must have felt, being falsely accused of a “non-crime.”  I told others it was one of the most humbling, but spiritual experiences of my life, and I will remember the rest of my life how alive our scriptures really are.

We were called out to breakfast at 4 AM, but not served until around 5 AM.  Four out of seven of us gave our food away, and this was seen as very unusual by those on the cell block not with our group.  In fact, one of the inmates prayed with us when giving the blessing.

We returned to our cells after breakfast and were locked in until around 9:30 AM.  By this time, the story of our giving the food away had spread around the jail.  The same inmates that jeered us just hours earlier were now watching us pray and sing, and now over half of our block prayed with us at lunch.  Again, we gave away our meals, and the inmates were very interested in hearing our stories.

All of us had different thoughts when to get out of jail.  After being there, we were planning on staying until Sunday afternoon, but I had mentioned getting out on Saturday.  At 11:30, I heard “Offerman, get your things, you are going.” I went up to the speaker and told the guard “no, I want to stay.” The jail prevailed and I had to leave.  The inmates were amazed and one said “we want out and your want to stay?  Are you crazy?” Yes, despite being sleep deprived, hungry, and dirty.  I hugged my pro life cell mates, grabbed my meager belongings, and left the cell block.  Interestingly enough, as I walked alone around the guard tower and in front of the other cell block, the same inmates who were jeering me were now giving “high fives” on the glass and “thumbs up.” The spirit works in mysterious ways.

As I was being processed to leave, I was able to talk to two inmates about Obama and how he was one of two Senators that voted to allow the death of an infant born alive after an abortion attempt.  Both of these inmates had voted for Obama, but had a change of heart after hearing this.  One of them made a promise to go back to his church.

I’ve been asked by several people why I chose Notre Dame as a point of conflict instead of others, and why such an “extreme” way of witnessing.  I tell them that Notre Dame is ground zero for this reason:  The United States is the greatest nation ever, and the reason for this is due to our Christian heritage.  The biggest block and most influential group is the Roman Catholic Church.  By Obama accepting – ironically an honorary “law” degree – he has essentially divided and conquered the “biggest kid on the block.” The protestant denominations will soon follow, and Obama and his minions will have a clear route to introduce their unholy agenda onto our society.  This is a battle we must win or we will see an Obamination ushered into this country that we cannot begin to imagine.

ALIVE FOR CHRIST???

Missy Smith, president of W.A.K.E.U.P ministries located in Washington, D.C. wrote an incredible response to Scott Richert’s post titled “Alive for Christ” that basically reeked of “wimpism”.  If doing little is being Alive in Christ, I would sure hate to see what Mr. Richert considers mediocrity.  See Mr. Richert’s post before reading Mrs. Smith’s response.

Scott Richert

Missy Smith’s response

To answer your question, I know that Alan Keyes and Randall Terry have done more to keep the issue of child slaughtering in front of the public eye than the few sorry bishops who spoke up against the treachery of having the greatest promoter of child killing in the world honored at Our Blessed Mother’s school. Those few weak voices did
Nothing to stop the treachery.

We on the other hand dominated Fox News with our non violent civil disobedience at Notre Dame. Our images were seen night after night being arrested and handcuffed. The New York Times, the LA Times ran stories and pictures. The internet was abuzz. For the first time in years the issue of child killing was front and center in the media. The Gallup Poll should for the first time in years the majority of Americans thought abortion was wrong!

Furthermore if we had not come to Notre Dame and walked on campus with rosaries, praying, given witness to life, and been willing to get arrested, the rest of the world would have assumed it was alright with the Catholic Church. Like Jesus Christ, Susan B. Anthony, Mother Mary, and Martin Luther King, who had the courage to stand up for what they believed give bold rhetoric, show images, make sacrifices and finally see the fruit of their work,.

We Notre Dame 88 were and are part of a social revolution called Insurrecta Nex which is Latin for the Revolution against the Slaughtering of Innocents. I disagree with you on so many levels it is astounding. We have had legalized murder in our country for 36 years with 50 million died, almost 4,000 children drawn and quartered a day and you are going to attack our brothers who have the courage to be “unseemly”.

The harm done to live children is not by seeing these gruesome aborted babies’ images but by covering them up and robbing these children of knowing what is happening right in front of their eyes so they can be armed and ready with the truth. The devil wants to keep all of this evil covered up and in the dark and not allow us to see these dead bodies like the ones shown at the Holocaust Museum, the ones one the front pages of newspapers from the Viet Nam War, the violence shown on TV during the civil rights movement.

I have stood outside of the Holocaust Museum for years with the “Face the Truth Tour” signs and watched day after day children being taken into see these graphic images. And what is worse, children that worked under terrible conditions in coal mines, women who couldn’t vote, slavery, no rights for the blacks, or the slaughtering of the most innocent, voiceless, defenseless of all human beings– babies in the womb ? This is the greatest crime since the beginning of time against man. There is no question that the blood of these children cries out from the land fills, the sewers, the dumpsters, the garbage disposals, and the laboratories. We will pay as a country.

And all your foolish sarcasm will not stop this movement that has started by a Small, tireless group of people bent on keeping the issue out in the light of day so people can see what is going on. We will not pretend that it is not happening. We will stand up in public at every opportunity and shout down pro abortion politicians and scream “We will not pay for murder!”.

You and others don’t have the stomach or back bone so you must find fault. Not I! I am proud to have gone to jail with the true living saints of today like Alan Keyes, Randall Terry, Joan Andrews Bell, Father Norman Weslin and many others. We will continue to interrupt talks where lies are being told about the health care bill not including child killing, we will continue to shout at meetings where we are being feed lie after lie. We will do street theater where we will portray white slaves being forced by Obama to pay for abortion thru our own taxes, we will continue to lobby our congressmen and senators to vote against this death bill and we will street preach.

You, I pray will push your self away from your comfortable chair in front of your

Computer and come out where the real war is going on. As John Paul II the great called for all of us to take to the streets. Let your voices be heard. Have courage–fear not! And stop with your silly pontificating about us that are really in the war, not just on the sidelines finding fault. There is no virtue in that.

THE FED: THE IMMOVABLE MEETS THE UNSTOPPABLE

George Offerman

There are two extremely powerful economic forces at play, and both are diametrically opposed to each other, and the Federal Reserve is caught in the middle.  These forces are ready to collide, and the outcome will be so dramatic, that the crisis in the late 1920’s known as the great depression will look like child’s play in comparison.  Now, no one needs to cry for the Fed, as they are solely responsible for one of the forces, and influential in the other.

The first force is what I will call the immovable. Over the past century, the Fed has been in charge of our fiat currency, and their primary (claimed) reason for existence was to stop all financial crisis (which it failed) and to guarantee a stable monetary system (which it failed).  Looking at nearly a century of existence, the financial status of the United States could not be worse.  Our country is the largest debtor nation in the history of the world, and it was just announced that this past month’s deficit was $112 billion, which annualized, would be over $1.3 trillion.

The American consumer is up to his eyeballs in debt, and barely able to service the debt he already has, as well as trying to eat and keep a roof over his head.  The ‘official’ unemployment rate is around 10 percent (See John Williams www.shadowstats.com for the real number).  Prices of items are up in the double digits for many items, yet our government tells us inflation is 1-2% or under control, closer to zero.  People are not getting raises, yet seeing all sorts of taxes going up due to the deficits of local, state and federal government, which in turn cuts into their personal budgets.

As one can surmise, the ability for the American consumer to service not only his own debt, but the debt and interest payments of the government at all levels, are literally topped out.  There is no more room for increasing debt load, and the government in general and Obama in particular are sensing that if things get worse, there will be massive retribution, and the majority of the people will ‘quit playing the game”.

The above listed coupled with the fact the Fed cannot raise interest rates makes up the force that is immovable.  For if the Fed raised rates, the cost of all debts would escalate, business activity would be greatly reduce, resulting in more layoffs, credit would dry up, most of government would shut down due to lack of money, many more would be homeless, due to mortgage rates changing, credit cards going up, etc. and the cost of business would become so much higher that more layoffs would soon follow, thus escalating an already downward progression. Raising the interest rate just one percent would require an additional 150 billion dollars going towards the interest of the debt.  Where is this money going to come from?

The other force that is diametrically opposed to low interest rates and out of control money printing are the creditors.  Those who have lent the United States government money, via Treasury Bills, want a high rate of return on their money.  In the current environment, interest rates on the T-Bills are near record lows.  This is particularly disturbing to our largest creditor, China, and was evidenced by an emergency meeting held last year with Fed. Chairman Ben ‘Helicopter’ Bernenke, and then Secretary of the Treasury Hank ‘printing press’ Paulson  China warned them at the time, to not ‘print’ their way out of this crisis, but resolve it through fiscal conservatism and an increase in production from the United States (Ironic, coming from a communist country).

The creditor nations want a decent return on their money (or at this point, a simple return OF their money).  These countries will not accept default: they expect a fair return on their investments, and grow more alarmed by the current Fed policy of ‘monetary easing’ which in layman’s terms means ‘printing at will’.  Creditor nations want a higher rate of return to offset the risk of inflationary policy of printing money, hence, want to see the Fed raise interest rates.  This incorporates the force of the unstoppable: they want more for their money, they will continue this push until they get what they want, or they will come ‘collecting’ the debt.

So, these two forces are ready to lock in a fierce battle for the ages, and one will prevail over the other.  Last year, the Fed chose the immovable, and began the process of ‘monetizing’ the debt.  China also began its defensive moves against this policy and has been buying up assets that will thrust it onto the world’s stage as the number one nation economically (barring disaster).  They represent the unstoppable, and have the backing of many different nations, who are also creditors to the United States.

Consider this: China has the largest manufacturing base in the world, and still growing in capacity.  China has become the number one country in the refining of precious metals, and number three in production and mining of precious metals.  China recently banned all export of precious metals, and has been a net buyer of gold for the past few years.  They have allowed their citizens for the first time in 60 years to buy gold and silver, and are they ever! China has lead several nations in calling for a new ‘reserve’ currency or basket of currencies: they recently signed a multi decade deal with Russia, the number three oil producer in the world, they are working with Venezuela in exchanging oil for goods (meaning protection) China also has control over the Panama Canal for the next 99 years, and thus has control of an important shipping channel.

The creditor nations, lead by china, are not going to allow the United States to print their way out of this mess, and the citizens of the United States are not going to give up their property and heritage to the bankers that created this mess.  The unmovable will meet the unstoppable very soon, and it will be very interesting to see the results of this titanic battle.  In the middle is the Fed, and either way, there are likely to be marches by throngs of people with torches and pitch forks headed towards the Fed in the middle of the night.  The only question is: will the mob be speaking English or Chinese?

THE HYPOCRITES IN THE PRO-LIFE MOVEMENT

Daniel Michaels

How can God bless any work that is not done for His kingdom and not without hypocrisy? My wife and I have been in the pro-life movement for over 17 years. We have 12 children, the youngest saved from abortion because my wife had the courage to obey God and stand for one more hour outside the local abortion mill.

We have been acquainted with and interviewed some of the trail-blazers of the pro-life movement of the past 17 years! Norma McCorvey, Dr. Bernard Nathanson, Randall Terry, Flip Benham, Carol Everett, Joe Scheidler, Alan Keyes, and many others.

 W
hat I have seen and heard over the past couple of years makes me want to vomit. Troy Newman and Jill Stanek calling Randall Terry a thief and a fraud is like Adolph Hitler calling George Tiller a madman.

I have known Troy Newman since July 2001 and Troy Newman’s motivation and desire is only for money and fame. He is a wolf. Every time something happens in the pro-life movement Troy Newman takes credit for it. He came to St. Louis in 2004 to help us with an event, and ever since then he has been taking credit for each success God has bestowed upon us! Another time we met him in Jefferson City, Missouri at the Capitol, and he said there were 40 people with him. He had one truth truck and three people. He is as phony as a three dollar bill. His organization had their 501c3 taken away. He has always expressed to me about his desire for the almighty dollar; for him to blatantly lie about Randall Terry wanting his mailing lists and the awarding of money by the U.S. Trademark Office is a very low blow.

We know people in Wichita that tell us the only time he has been at Tiller’s clinic over the last three years was for a photo op or media coverage.
He has not only slandered Randall Terry and Flip Benham; he continues to deceive his donors and others about the work he does claiming, “If you don’t give us money, more babies will die.” Hogwash!

Now, let's talk about Jill Stanek.  While Jill Stanek complains about how much Randall Terry rakes in, why doesn't she tell everyone how much she's making?  When Jill Stanek spoke at the Vitae Foundation dinner in Illinois, we were told she was paid several thousand dollars.  Not bad for one hour's work.

You won’t see Jill Stanek standing outside any abortion mills trying to save babies. I saw her at Notre Dame for the Obama Commencement speech, but she wasn’t holding a sign or ruffling anybody’s feathers. Jill Stanek is a pro-life gossip, who makes money off of other people’s work.

Why do pro lifers have to get paid to do God's work?  Receiving money for expenses is fine, but $5,000-$10,000 for speaking and $200,000 a year in salaries?  Hogwash!  Go get a job like everyone else.

These money-changers criticizing Randall Terry are ridiculous! Before you get the speck out of your brother’s eye, you better get the log out of your eye! The reason why there is so much divisiveness and jealousy is probably the same reason why we have been attacked by other so called Christians: envy. They must be feeling threatened. Just like most pregnancy centers, narcissistic pro-lifers and Christians do not want to share a piece of their kingdom or pro-life pie with anyone.

I have never received a dime from Randall Terry and do respect the work of the people I criticized in this letter, but I am really sick of the “cash cows” and hypocrites in the pro-life movement. If abortion came to an end tomorrow, they’d be jumping off buildings. That’s why abortion will never end with such division and sin. The love for money is at the root of all evil.

Before you decide to throw stones, make sure you don’t live in glass houses.

THE FEDERAL RESERVE, IRS AND WOODROW WILSON

 George Offerman

Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes her laws.

Mayer Amschel Rothschild, Founder, House of Rothschild banking dynasty

"Some even believe we (the Rockefeller family) are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States,  characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global  political and economic structure--one world, if you will.  If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it" -Memoirs, p.405

David Rockefeller, founder, Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission

“Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men's views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the U.S., in the field of commerce and manufacturing, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.”

Woodrow Wilson, President, United States 1913

"I sincerely believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.  Already they have raised up a money aristocracy that has set the government at defiance.  The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs."

Thomas Jefferson, Founding Father, 3rd President, United States

"History records that the Money Changers have used every form of abuse, intrigue, deceit and violent means possible to maintain their control over governments by controlling money and its issuance."

James Madison, Founding Father, 4th President, United States

The Federal Reserve act was signed into law December 23, 1913 by President Woodrow Wilson, and with a stroke of a pen, the money system as was then known ended. This was a clear violation of the U.S. constitution Article 1 section 8 that clearly states:
The Congress shall have Power To: To borrow money on the credit of the United States; To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures; To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States. Section 10, which addresses prohibition by the states, is clear concerning monetary issues: No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but GOLD and SILVER Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts..

It was the third time a central bank was set up in this country, but this act was the most dangerous of them all, due to creating an ‘enforcing’ agency with it, called the Internal Revenue Service.  The IRS would be the ‘enforcing’ agency, to collect the new income tax initially levied ‘only’ on the rich (sound familiar).  Gold and silver as money, were now replaced by Federal Reserve notes, or FRN’s.  Initially, to quell the public’s distrust of the central bank, the FRN’s were printed up as ‘silver certificates’, meaning one could exchange an FRN for a one ounce silver dollar coin.

The banking powers learned their lessons well from the previous two failures, and the efforts to create the Federal Reserve started several years previously.  I will give a very brief history, as a well researched book already exists, and its title is The creature from Jekyll Island by G. Edward Griffin.  Jekyll island, which is off the coast of Georgia, was where  the world money powers gathered to create this monstrosity, and the main power brokers in this were the Rockefellers of the United States, and the very powerful House of Rothschild in Europe.

Paul Warburg, who was the mastermind of this new system was sent directly from Europe by Baron Alfred De Rothschild, and was instructed to work with Sen. Nelson W. Aldrich, (father in law to John D. Rockefeller JR) who also happened to be the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.  They initially failed to pass the first bill, as Aldrich insisted his name be on the bill.  There were also some adjustments made, such as using the deceptive name Federal Reserve, to instill a sense of government oversight, to have 12 separate branches in order to look like banking decentralization from New York, and to allow the President to appoint governors and chairman of the organization.

In essence, silver and gold, which is limited in supply and cannot be counterfeited, was removed as money, and in its place. FRN’s, that can be printed at will, and a private corporation was given sole rights to print the FRN’s.  Inside the Federal Reserve act was a REQUIREMENT to use FRN’s for all private and public debts, thus changing the legal tender laws.  This form of money was required to pay the now new income tax to the Treasury via this new watchdog agency, the internal revenue service.

This act in and of itself is unconstitutional, as one’s labor is seen as private property in the constitution, and even now if one researches the laws concerning the IRS, income tax payment is still listed as ‘voluntary”. (However, try to ‘voluntarily’ opt out of this system, and see what happens).  The Federal Reserve and IRS are unconstitutional by their nature: creating money out of ‘thin air’ not being backed by gold and silver, having an exclusive franchise in creation and collection of revenue, using coercive measures in which to collect, and charging interest on what is considered the people’s money.  As noted by the quotes above, our founding fathers abhorred the money powers, and were very aware of their evil intent (they would be considered ‘conspiracy theorists’ by today’s standards) Abolishment of this Godless system is the most appropriate action to take.

Woodrow Wilson, in my estimation, was the worst president in our country’s history.  This man KNOWINGLY sold this country to the money powers and was unwilling to stand up to them.  President McKinley was assassinated in office Sept 14, 1901, and was the last strong advocate against central banking and the money powers, and this may have influenced Wilson in ‘keeping his mouth shut’ (as evidenced by HIS quote above).  This, however, does not excuse his cowardice, and this evil action is the basis of the vast majority of our problems today.  Wilson epitomizes the cowards that hold positions of power, and are willing to sell their souls for a taste of power.  Unfortunately, there are too many in the current ‘gang of 535’ and in the White House that emulates Wilson and they lack the courage and conviction it takes to be true leaders.

Believe it or not, the purchasing power of the U.S. dollar has shrunk by 99% since 1913.  Yes, that number is correct, 99%.  When this sinks in, it is very easy to understand how the United States has continually fallen behind in all areas of improvement since that time.  The more we seem to have, the further behind we fall in terms of real growth, real opportunities and real advancement.  This is in total contrast to what God intended and it will continue until sound money is returned front and center in our economy.

THE CURSE OF GODLESS MONEY

George Offerman

There is so much fear pushed out by the mainstream media, world government bodies such as the UN, and even the famous ‘green’ movements lead by by such organizations as the Sierra club, PETA, WWF (not the wrestling federation), and to a degree, WHO.  The fears are spurred on by claims of ‘scarcity’ which come straight from the pits of hell. (I will be writing a lengthy article soon on the God of Abundance, which will counter these evil arguments).

At the root of this supposed ‘scarcity’ is the ‘lack’ of money.  All of these organizations claim that the world is ‘overpopulated’ and ‘stressing’ the environment to an extreme.  Too many resources are consumed and there is ‘not enough money to pay for it all’.  This could not be further from the truth, but the real scarcity is sound money, and this is verifiable by looking no further than the source of the current form of money, paper script, and who is creating it.

Paper money creates a paradoxical situation: the more created, the less it is worth.  The less the money is worth, the less one can purchase.  Look at the advancements of society in the past 100 years.  Most products should be extremely CHEAP versus the current high prices for most products and services.  Take farming for instance.  At the turn of the century, most farming was still done on family farms using animals as the means of tilling the fields.  Now there are machines that can plow nearly 100 acres in a day, thus bringing down costs in food production.  Yet, the prices of food continue to rise.  Why is this?

When money can be printed at will, it usually is.  When this is done the beneficiary is always the one who prints it, as they have first access to the purchasing power.  The loser is the end user, or in this case, the consumer, who accesses the money at the end of the line, and is forced to deal with the ‘inflation’.  Usually, one’s pay does not keep up with ‘inflation’ and thus, gets caught up in the vicious cycle of always needing to work harder to stay at the same level.

If this seems inaccurate or confusing, consider this: both parents in the average household need to work in order to have the same lifestyle as the previous generation, in which the father worked and the mother was able to stay home.  Many people are working multiple jobs and still ‘falling’ behind in their bills and ability to provide decently for their families.  This is the end result of godless money, which can be printed at will, and it is evil, as well as a curse.

Inflation is taught in business schools around the world as if it is an absolute economic fact.  This thinking comes from the economic theories and philosophy of John Maynard Keynes.  Keynes believed in the power of the printing press, centralized planning, and once called God’s money, gold, a ‘barbarous relic’.  Keynes taught that the way to eliminate the ‘down’ side of the economic cycle was to spend one’s way out of it.  Hence, this explains Obama’s huge deficit spending, and the supposed economic ‘bounce’ we are in.  Once, when asked by an astute observer whether hyper inflation will take over in the end, Keynes responded “In the end we’re all dead”  Comforting words from the man who is the father of the new economy, and the one leading this country to its economic destruction.

When the debauchery of the currency hits critical mass, hyperinflation ensues, as seen currently in Zimbabwe. No paper currency has ever succeeded in the history of mankind, and the FRN’ will be no exception.  Paper currency always goes to its intrinsic value: zero.  In the mean time, carnage and disaster is left in its wake, and it destroys, just like its Master from Hell intended.

NO RIGHT TO LIFE

George Offerman

It is now becoming obvious by the lack of media coverage and the ‘matter of factness’ of those that do discuss it, that the cold blooded murder of Jim Pouillon is at best a nuisance or at worst, ‘payback for Tiller”.  Either way, this shows the cold and calculated way the ‘peace loving, open minded’ liberals and their media cronies operate and what they think about the cause we believe in and how we should be treated.

It comes as absolutely no surprise to those pro lifers who are in the trenches and have seen the disparity in the way we are treated on a day to day basis.  When at the mills, the police rarely take our side and it is us who are under the scrutiny of the law.  It is our positions that are routinely mocked and the pro lifers are the ones accused of being more like the Nazis than the killers of babies and those who propagate them.

Our religious beliefs are mocked and denigrated.  We are the ones who had FACE and RICO laws applied to us when we defend the pre born.  We are the ones who are accused of spreading hate, accused of being rigid and dogmatic in our faith, and sending the cause of women back to the Stone Age.  We are the ones that are accused of being ‘Un American’ and ‘pushing our religious views’ onto others.

We can all debate this ad nauseum, but one thing ought to be made clear:  The first shot has been fired in what will be known as the great religious war in this country.   Violence will most likely pick up against our cause.  The comments made by the 17 year old student at that Michigan school stated it all: “He should have been cussed at or spit on, but not shot.” in reference to Mr. Pouillon’s graphic sign in front of the school.  This student finds it acceptable to spit or cuss at someone with whom one disagrees with, but the caveat that it is a politically incorrect message, or a message with religious overtones.

The message is clear: violence towards pro lifers is acceptable, and once one can admit that hurling insults, or cursing is acceptable, then rocks and bullets are not far removed.  Try doing any of this to the ‘death scorts’ or abortuary workers, and see how far the ‘tolerance’ goes.  It definitely is a one way street, and the majority of active pro lifers already know this.

The cold blooded murder of Jim Pouillon is actually in alignment with the culture of death’s thought process.  Mr. Pouillon, like the preborn, are second class citizens, and both represent inconvenience.  We know what happens with inconvenience in the culture of death, it is eliminated (by any means necessary).  We saw that on September 11 with Jim Pouillon, and unfortunately, it happened another 4000 times to the preborn that day.  This is why we will not see media coverage, why there will be no apology given, excuses made up for the shooter and ultimately, how Jim Pouillon somehow brought this on himself.  In the meantime, mass murderer Tiller continues to get the adoration of his sycophant followers, and the praise from the culture of death.

We are getting closer to the day when we can be jailed for our beliefs, and if this hate law legislation passes, jailed for merely thinking them and expressing them privately.  We are finding out how second class pro lifers and people of faith are and that our lives are expendable without much recourse to those who instigate the violence. Time is short, and we must act on this now, as there may be no tomorrow to put this off to. God help us all.

THOUGHTS AND MEMORIES OF 9-11

George Offerman

Eight years ago I was working on the psychiatric unit at a hospital in Northern Virginia.  I can remember that day as clearly as yesterday, and remember sitting in a staff meeting when we heard the roar of jet engines above us.  We all remarked how loud it was and wondered why this jet seemed to be off course from National airport.  A couple of minutes later, we heard a loud bang, which we initially attributed to a patient slamming their door, which was a common occurrence there.

It was only about 10 minutes later that we heard an overhead page “All available staff to the emergency room”.  We left the meeting and asked “what was going on?”  The clearly shaken nurse at the desk stated ‘there was a plane crash at the Pentagon, and we will be taking casualties.’

When I entered the emergency room, all the staff were surrounding a small black and white television and I remember first seeing the Pentagon in flames, then the news going back to New York, and seeing both the World Trade towers on fire. It was beyond comprehension, and it is fair to say we were all stunned and shocked by this.  The more we watched, the more upset even the emergency room doctors were getting.

The first ambulance arrived within 30 minutes, and I can remember no one initially responding.  Surprisingly, I found myself almost yelling at the doctors “Turn the TV off and lets get focused on our jobs”  They followed that order and we then got busy.  Because our hospital had a ventilation unit, we received mainly smoke inhalation cases, and was not equipped for burns and trauma, which the larger hospital down the road was.

I was in charge of ‘greeting’ the ambulances upon arrival, getting vital information from the patients, and responsible for contacting the families.   While I was outside, an army jeep drove up, and a lieutenant Colonel, dressed in full fatigues, and carrying an M16 informed us that all the roads around the areas had been closed off and no travel was allowed, except for any healthcare workers with proper identification needing to get to the hospitals.

As the morning wore on, I spent more and more time outside waiting for ambulances, and had time to begin to take in the day’s events.  We could see smoke from the Pentagon fire over the tree tops, and the sound of helicopters flying around guarding the city.  We also saw two jet fighters scrambling from nearby Andrews air force base, and we noted how they were fully armed with missiles.  We wondered where they were going, as they gained speed, and felt the shock wave as they broke the sound barrier. (We were unaware of the plane in Pennsylvania at that time)

Interestingly enough, those that were Christian did not feel a sense of fear, but calm.  We discussed that as the day went on, and saw how our faith had been a comfort for us during these events.  It also enabled me to talk with the family members and comfort them in their fears.

Around 12:30 pm, the same Lieutenant Colonel returned with her M16, and informed us there would be “no more casualties coming”.  She was very stern when informing us of this, and then left immediately.  I asked a former military officer what this meant, and he replied “that means everyone taken out from this point on is dead”.  We then did some spontaneous prayers for the living and dead and for ourselves to stay focused on our jobs, or by now our mission.

We assisted the patients as best as we could, and most who were cleared to leave, could not, due to travel restrictions.  I remember asking to go to another location to help out, and being refused this request.  We were told to remain in place, and they especially requested my services to assist in processing this event with any staff feeling overwhelmed or stressed.  Needless to say, I had plenty to do.

The restrictions were finally lifted around 5:30 pm, but traffic was horrible with all the major arteries packed with panicked people wanting to get out of the city, or more likely, get back to see loved ones.  It took a long 2 hours to get back to my home, but all I could think about was seeing my family and getting a break from what I had been through that day.

As I laid down that night, my thoughts drifted to those people in the buildings, and how they went to work with whatever concerns and worries they had at the time, and how that all changed instantly.  I also thought about all the heroes that died and what courage they displayed, every day folks who stepped up to the plate when asked and gave their lives for their fellow man.

I never want to forget, or allow this country in general to forget this sacrifice and lessons learned on that day.  I fear this country is forgetting what happened that day and it is only to our detriment that this occur.  God only knows if something larger is in the works, but I hope my fellow citizens and the heroes that died that day are watching out for us.

As for me, I salute my fellow citizens and heroes who lost their lives 8 years ago.  I will not forget and I will teach others about your sacrifices to make this country better.

SILVER, GET SOME (BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE)

George Offerman

I was going to address another matter today, but given some of the news I’ve seen, (and the latest ‘lies’ from Barry during his infomercial last night) I felt some urgency to cover this topic.  Being pro life does include assisting those alive, and there is ample evidence that matters are ready to get very dicey, and preparation needs to happen now.

I have been studying God’s money for several years, and have done for myself all the recommendations that will follow.  One cannot lead without going first, and one cannot teach without practical knowledge of the subject discussed. I also recommend you do some research, and I will give the best sources I know, that will save time.

Silver has historically, been the preferred money of the common man.  It is true that gold is ‘the money of kings’ but silver is the money of everyday commerce and the common man’s means of acquiring his daily bread.  Silver and gold have an intrinsic appeal to man universally, and this is easily explained by God instilling this sense in us.  Hold out a 1 ounce American Eagle and a dollar bill (FRN) and a child will always take the coin.

Silver and gold are so universally accepted that military pilots are given gold coins, and not a stack of FRN’s in case of being behind enemy lines, and needing to acquire goods or services.  Also, the government has recently banned significant amounts of Gold from being expatriated overseas in accounts, as even the government has recognized the universality of the metal.

Despite the fact gold is a great investment, and hedge against inflation, silver will be by far, the greater mover of the two metals.  Why is this?  First of all, the gold to silver ratio currently is 60:1, when throughout history, has been more like 15:1, as it occurs in nature.  This represents potential 4 times the return than gold in this bull market.

Secondly, most of the gold mined throughout history is still available in some above ground form, while most of the silver mined throughout history has been irrevocably lost through industrial processes.  There is an estimated 1 billion ounces in bullion form of silver, as opposed to about 5 billion ounces in bullion form of gold.  This will lead to a significant shortage of silver, when industrial users can no longer acquire the physical metals.  When this event occurs, the price spike will be breathtaking, and will be discussed for decades to come (if we are still here) as the greatest bubble of all time.

Third, silver is no one’s liability and is payment in full when utilized.  Silver has no serial number on it, or RFD chips, so no one will be able to control the use of silver when exchanged in commerce.  Due to its universal appeal, it will be readily accepted in the near future as a medium of exchange and we will all soon be experts on this ‘barbarous relic’.

There are more points I could make about silver, but the point of this post is to do some initial education about this form of money, but I also want to offer a solution for part of the tumultuous times ready to visit us.  All need to do some due diligence on this subject.

I am asked “How high do you think silver will go” Ultimately I don’t know, but I will give you something to think about.  A Denarius was considered a day’s wage for a soldier, and many different sources seem to agree that it was about 1/10 ounce of silver.  Consider what a soldier makes today, and a one ounce American Eagle would suffice to be about 2 weeks worth of pay.  Jesus was sold for 30 pieces of silver, and this silver was used to purchase a piece of property outside the walls of Jerusalem (land was not cheap there).  You decide what the value would be.

We know what the value will be in the future, as the Bible tells us.  Revelation 6:6: "And I heard something like a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, 'A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius and do not damage the oil and the wine.'"  Food will be scarce, and this will be a day’s wages.

Silver is currently trading a little over $16 an ounce, and the average worker would be able to purchase 8-10 oz per day.  I would say that historically, this is truly a steal.  I believe by the time this bubble ends, the price for silver will be MULTIPLES over the cost of a day’s wages.

I am placing a link to Ted Butler’s latest article about silver.  In my opinion, Ted Butler is the most knowledgeable individual on the planet concerning silver.  I’ve been reading his missives for years, and this man has no equal when taking into considerations his predictions and work on the silver markets.  It would be very unwise to read his materials, and then do nothing.

GOD'S MONEY

George Offerman

I was with a group of pro lifers recently, and the topic of the economy came up.  We have been discussing this topic for several months, ongoing, and the consensus seems to be that God is involved in these current times, and that the love of money has been front and center of our problems.  I told them, and continue to believe this economy will never get better, and there are good reasons for this.

One may ask “what does the economy have to do with pro life”.  My answer is EVERYTHING.  What is the main reason cited for abortion? Mainly convenience and ‘choice’.  Why does one need the ‘choice’ or convenience? The down and dirty answer is money.  We never have enough, and it seems the other side continually pushes the false allegations that we live in a world of scarcity, and this includes money (or the lack thereof).

The current money, known as Federal Reserve Notes (FRN) is printed at will, and as we can see, the printing has increased exponentially in the past two years.  When money can be printed at will, or out of ‘thin air’, abuse is soon to follow.  Our national debt, not including the unfunded liabilities (promised future benefits with no money to pay for them) stand at nearly 12 Trillion dollars.  The interest alone on this debt is nearing half a Trillion annually.  Currently, the largest holder of U.S. debt (U.S. Treasury bonds) is China, with roughly 1.7 trillion.  Obama is talking about another 9-10 trillion of additional debt over the next ten years, and this will raise the interest payments alone to nearly 1 Trillion dollars per year.

This in turn, takes away from productivity, and creates a downward spiral of debt: the more debt we have, the more we must borrow to pay today’s bills, thus owing more interest that then requires more borrowing, etc.  The more money spent on interest, the less to spend on real needs, and thus the artificial ‘scarcity’ built into the system.  When one feels the constant pressure to ‘downsize’, they look at potential liabilities.  Children are one of the greatest expenditures parents can have, and unfortunately, become the largest liabilities, and are thus seen as expendable.

Now, where does all of this interest go?  Interest is paid to bond holders, such as China, for the U.S. Treasuries, but interest is also ‘owed’ to the Federal Reserve for ‘lending’ the money to the Treasury department in the first place.  So in essence, we pay interest to the Federal Reserve for the ‘privilege’ of creating this money out of thin air to begin with.  Interest payments are sent directly to the Federal Reserve (Which is a private corporation and this payment is not subject to income tax) and this money is never to be seen again in the economy as we know it. Taking a trillion dollars annually out of an economy definitely causes scarcity, and validates the whole premise of what Obama is trying to sell to the public with his current health care scam.

God is clear what his money is: Silver and Gold.  God deliberately created a nominal amount of the ‘precious metals’ as a way to minimize the ‘shenanigans’ He knew we would get into if there was a nearly unlimited amount.  When money is limited, and cannot be counterfeited, commerce is always conducted on a ‘cash and carry’ basis, and there is little or no need for any interest bearing instruments in which to enslave one.

When the money supply is steady, there is no inflation, thus no loss of one’s labor, property and ability to secure basic needs if available.  One would also be more aware of taxes as they would have to be paid by coinage on hand, versus deducted out of a check, which merely reflect numbers on a paper. This would create more accountability by government for monetary expenditures.  People would also be more involved, due to having an expanded awareness of where and how their money is being used.

People constantly bring up wars as an example of ‘pro life’ issues.  If we continued to use God’s money, wars would be scarce and limited by the ability or lack thereof to fund them.  There would be little incentive to kill people and break things that then have to be replaced.  When there is no limit to ‘creating’ money, there is no limit to the amount of wars and other sinful behaviors one or a nation can engage in.  Likewise the cutting off of credit is a death knell for the individual or nation who has debt or trying to bankroll day to day life, or in this particular example, the propagation of war.

God intended for there to be stability in life, by having a stable source of money.  One would be able to save and to pass on their life’s fruit without the fear of losing everything due to inflation or debauchery of the currency.  There is more said about money in the Bible than about salvation, and God has made clear that Honest weights and measures is the premier concern when dealing with His money.  The current money scenario is an abomination to God, as it is very dishonest in it is created by one source (Federal Reserve), and created at will with little discipline.

This is why I for one would like to see “In God we trust” removed from the FRN’s and metal slugs we call coinage.  God should not be mocked in such a fashion, and this slogan can be reinstated once we again use the money God, and our constitution intended for us: Silver and Gold.  Until we come up with honest weights and measures, using God’s money, the economy will not come back, as God does not reward sinful and rebellious behaviors.

NOT TOO BIG OR IMPORTANT TO BE IN THE TRENCHES

George Offerman

I was taking my son Matthew camping after going to the abortuary on Saturday morning, and we were running late.  When we arrived at the abortuary, Randall Terry was there, and already had taken the lead in calling the police on an illegal maneuver by the owner of the abortuary.  Evidently, the parking garage had been condemned by the city, and barriers had been placed in front of the openings to keep people from parking in there.

The owner of the abortuary had removed the barriers, and staff and ‘customer’s’ began parking in the condemned structure.  Randall entered the property and moved the barriers back into place.  Naturally, this set the owner and several of the ‘death scorts’ off and mayhem soon followed.  The police actually agreed with Randall, and the barriers were put back into place.  This allowed for the sidewalk counselors to have clear access to the women entering the property.

Now, many of Randall Terry’s critics would be the first to level criticism at what he did that morning, ‘making trouble’ and causing a ruckus amongst the troops.  The point they would be missing, of course, is the fact Randall still shows up in the trenches, and does this most often without fanfare, and despite some critics from Operation Rescue, (and certain bloggers) does not pass the hat and act like a ‘charlatan’.

In fact, Randall Terry’s witness in the trenches could be a good teaching moment for those who use the pro life moniker to make fat public speaking fees, write nationally syndicated columns, and send out several different fund raising letters while using the efforts of other people as well as their identity.  Unfortunately, too many of these so called ‘pro life leaders’ have lost their first love, saving the babies, and have found some fame and fortune in being perceived as leaders.  I don’t see or hear many of Randall’s critics in the trenches anymore, but they sure seem to have a problem with him when he shows up there.

Real leaders lead by example.  It is too bad that some in this movement have not actually lead lately, but are quite content in staying in the background, and taking credit for other’s work.  When a leader, such as Randall Terry steps out and actually does something commendable, they are the first to be on the ‘criticism bandwagon’.  Maybe it’s just too threatening to the comfortable status quo of commentators and fund raisers of a movement they no longer take the lead in.  Instead of learning from this, they just as soon tear down those willing to actually do something about it.

Here is Randall, taking time on a Saturday morning during a holiday weekend to stop child killing.  No media showed up, no press releases, and no ‘passing of the hat’ or fund raising occurred.  He risked arrest for doing what he did, but continued to call attention to the illegal maneuver made by the owner.  That is what I would call leadership, and to Randall’s critics, I say: IN YOUR FACE!

IF JILL STANEK LIVED DURING THE TIME OF MOSES

George Offerman

To: Ramses II, King of Egypt

Palace Facility, Egypt

From: Jill Stanek

Jewish Slave quarters, Egypt

Dear King Ramses, (may you live forever)

I am writing to you with some questions and concerns, and I beseech your patience with me.  I am wondering if you received our petition for us to receive straw to make our bricks.  I was able to get over 50,000 slaves to put a check underneath the parchment I wrote, and I pray this does not offend you, O dear king (may you live forever).  I also want to inquire about our application for our next “Free the slaves” march planned for this upcoming harvest season.  I also want to thank you for allowing us to vent our frustrations, as this march gives us some hope that you will release us in the future.

King Ramses (may you live forever), I and most of the slaves know you to be reasonable, and despite the fact things have appeared to have become testy lately, we know deep down, you are a kind man, and will eventually let us have our freedom. (When convenient for you, of course).  Even though we disagree on many different areas of life, we do have a common threat, which together, we can deal with.  This threat is a man named Moses.

As you are most aware, Moses once resided in the palace with you, and was at one time in love with the woman who is now your queen (may she live forever).  It seems Moses did not appreciate or grasp the opportunity he had, and ended up murdering a poor defenseless task master.  He did this for some bizarre reason, so he claims, to ‘free’ us from slavery.  We have had many discussions about him (those of us still alive that remember him) and have a great deal of resentment, due to his ‘abandoning the cause’ and fleeing, while the rest of us had to deal with the consequences of his misguided actions.

Moses fled into the desert for 40 years and became a shepherd.  He ended up with another woman, and had several children with her.  We thought he had died, but lo and behold, 40 years later he reappears, again claiming to be ‘the one who will free us from slavery”  I will tell you, O king (may you live forever) what I have told most of the slaves:  Moses could not make it as a prince, he could not make it as a shepherd, now he is returning to his purported calling of “freeing slaves’.

Yahweh, our God, would not be associated with a man like Moses, as he is a Murderer and a coward.  I want you to know that the majority of the slaves do not believe that Moses is the promised ‘deliverer’, nor recognize his purported leadership.  We have seen supposed ‘deliverers’ come and go, and frankly most were more qualified than Moses.  Besides, those of us that are close to Yahweh would have been given some indication if Moses truly was the ‘deliverer’.

We are as perplexed as you, O king (may you live forever) by some of the actions and behaviors Moses has  engaged in   We cannot explain how he managed to pull off many of his stunts, such as the fire and hail mixture, but we, like yourself, thought Moses went ‘over the top’ with the fake blood in the river.  This caused a great deal of hardship due to thirst of both human and animal for a period of days.  Now, Moses has made the claim that we need to put blood above our doorposts tonight, in order to stave off a so called ‘Angel of death” to kill all the first born in Egypt.  (What is it with this guy and blood?)  We know this has to be false, as OUR God, Yahweh, is not a murderer like Moses.

I want to be the first to let you know, O king (may you live forever) that I and my fellow slaves do not agree with the actions and behaviors of Moses, and we will not follow him in his bizarre claims as he works his ‘comeback tour” as purported deliverer.  Moses has failed in the past, and we expect the same this time.  Moses is unqualified to lead us as he has a history of violations of our laws that Yahweh himself cannot ignore.  Moses is also very arrogant; walking around with his ‘shepherd’s staff’ acting like he can do no wrong, and has made claims to having visions and speaking with Yahweh directly.

Moses has also managed to secure a few others in his delusion, and one of them is Joshua, the stone cutter.  Joshua is very influential, and is beginning to get others believing that our freedom is at hand (as early as tomorrow).  We do not believe this to be the case, and will continue to beseech you, O king (may you live forever) that you change your heart and begin to make some changes that we can live with and believe in.  We believe if you, O king (may you live forever) show some incremental changes, the issue with Moses will go away, as most slaves will then not listen to him, and this will disprove Moses contention you are an evil king. (Our suggestion would be to re introduce the Sabbath day of rest; this will win you our undying loyalty).

To show our loyalty, many in our ranks have pledged to keep our doorposts free from blood, so when this purported event does not take place, you will know we remained loyal to you.  I know, and speak for many of the slaves, that we can resolve our differences through mutual understanding and respect.  I also know that Moses is a great impediment in this process going forward, and his extreme claims and behavior are presenting problems for both sides in resolving this issue peacefully and reasonably.

I am making a pledge to you, O king (may you live forever) that after tonight’s ‘failure’ by Moses, we will ‘take care’ of this problem once and for all.  We know best how to deal with those who make false claims and will have enough strength in numbers to put Moses ‘out of business”.  Extremism has no place in our cause, and we know that change can occur through making deals that are beneficial to both sides.

I remain your loyal subject,

I'M PRO LIFE, BUT...

George Offerman

How many people claim to be pro life, but when it comes down to defending the preborn, make excuses as to why they are not active in the pro life movement?  I used the term kitchen Christians in an earlier post and have witnessed this numerous time.  (I have to admit to having been a kitchen Christian myself).  As I have heard from leaders as well as priests, “It is easy to be pro life in your home or at church, but try being pro life in your everyday life.”

What is it that causes one to be timid in the face of defending the pre born?  It could be old fashioned fear, being made fun of, gossiped about, hassled or harassed by others.  It could be inconvenience, the “I don’t want to be bothered “syndrome.  It could be the sense the battle is lost and ‘why bother’ or a related issue of ‘it’s now law and we are fighting an uphill battle’.  It also could be double mindedness, attempting to walk in the world at the same time as attempting to walk in faith.  And related to this can be lack of faith, either that the pre born are actually human beings, or that abortion is not ‘that bad or even permissible’ because of ‘free will’ or God’s silence.

This comes in to play when some ‘pro lifers’ criticize other pro lifers for tactic that they may not agree with.  It seems interesting that more often than not, these who criticize seem to be more offended by the tactics used, than the actual slaughtering of innocent children.  I often wonder what motivates these people in being so uncharitable in their criticism of pro lifers, and the deafening silence they levy towards the true enemy that propagates legalized child killing.

I have seen more ‘defense’ from some pro lifers concerning George Tiller’s death than the 60,000 lives he snuffed out. Supposed pro life senator Lindsay Graham praised Sonia Sotomayor’s questionable qualifications to be on the bench, and wanted to portray himself as an ‘open minded’ Republican, and basically sold the babies down the river.  Two Catholic prelates thought it to be more important to ‘keep the peace’ than to make the difficult decision to confront the reality of Ted Kennedy’s voting record and stances against Church teaching for over 46 years.  As I have read on the blogs over the past few weeks, anyone daring to criticize any of the above listed people has been labeled ‘extremist, hateful and divisive”.  And this criticism comes from other pro lifers.

Then you have the other side in which very strong advocates for life, such as Bishop Martino of Scranton, suddenly 'retire' due to vague illnesses, and Bishop D'Arcy coming out against Fr. Jenkins and is vilified.  Where is the strong support for the pro life position in these cases? Outside of a few vocal supporters, nearly non existent.

When I go to the abortuary every Saturday morning, the sidewalk counselors are outnumbered about 3:1 by the ‘death scorts’.  These death scorts show a great deal of passion for their cause, and have no issues with making inflammatory statements about us, our cause, our faith and way of life.  They also have no problems calling the police if we do anything questionable according to the tight city ordinances.  They do not demonstrate the fears or hesitancy I see from many pro lifers.  I tell most Christians, who make excuses for not going to the abortuaries that “Jesus was physically present at the miracles he performed, and did not ‘zap’ people from a distance”.  As pro lifers, we need to be physically present in the battles, whether praying in front of a mill, to being arrested unjustly for the cause we believe in.

No matter what the reason for staying silent (or very vocal against those fighting in the trenches) the modern American pro life movement is playing a defeatist game and has settled for ‘not losing’ instead of total and unconditional victory.  The saddest part of this is that those with passion and the faith to believe abortion is murder of an innocent child are ostracized and criticized by those that somehow believe they will ‘reason’ with the child killers in order to end this holocaust.  This is delusional thinking and will only result in the propagation of the status quo.

My challenge for those who doubt this is:  Show me ONE movement in history that was ended by phone calls, petitions and letters, or ‘changing hearts’.  We are to be people of faith, but the faith must be acted upon.  God states clearly: “I will not be mocked: whatsoever a man sows, shall he reap.  Well, harvest time is soon approaching, will we be ready?

THE POWER OF PRAYING AND FASTING

George Offerman

Intensive prayers and fasting are the ‘heavy artillery’ in the Christian arsenal and are very effective tools in the war we are constantly engaged in.  There is nothing more effective that will clarify and convict one by focused prayers and going some days without food.  Praying and fasting will put you in some rarified air, and will open up new roads, that will bring both joy and peace, but also conflict and confrontation.

Intensive prayers mean at least 2 hours per day or more of focused prayers (for a specific cause or answer to a specific question or problem).  The praying can take many different forms from the Rosary and Eucharistic adoration (for Catholics) Bible reading, and meditation on verses, quiet reflection either sitting or walking in the woods or other peaceful places, uplifting and inspirational music, or scriptural studies on the radio.

Fasting can involve any number of methods, from skipping a meal or two during the day, to bread and water or water fasts, juice fasts or a combination of both.  The duration can be minimally one day, but seems to have more effect if done for at least 3 days and the more basic (water or juice) the more intense the effects will be.

Jesus started his ministry with a 40 day fast and no one can doubt the intensity in which he led his life from that time.  Fasting is a potent tool, and done properly with the right motivation, will result in multiple fruits of the spirit.  The difficulty for some is the strong convictions that will result from a successful prayer and fast event, as it literally will change ones view of his/her life and the way they interact with the world.

Depriving oneself of food, in and of itself, will take away many of the spiritual blinders encountered in our society.  My own experience has shown how ‘relative’ we hold most matters (and this includes Christians) and when the ‘fluff and stuff’ is cleared, leaves us with some uncomfortable decisions.  It seems once ones eyes are opened, it is nearly impossible to go back.  It definitely is not the popular road to begin challenging the relativism you will run into, and this is the struggle with a spiritual awakening.

I see this in my life frequently.  I did an intense prayer and fast to clarify my ‘internal stirrings’ pertaining to Notre Dame, and was given a semblance of peace and conviction about it once I completed the fast.  The resistance I encountered from some well meaning Christians was strong, and obviously, it disturbed their sense of well being and comfort when I informed them of my decision.  This was further clarification I was doing the right thing, and the intensity of the praying and fasting enabled me to have the courage and peace of mind when the time came to pray on the campus and go to jail.

If you are one of the Christians bored in your walk, or feeling like you are in a ‘stuck place’, do a 3 day intensive prayer and fast, and watch how exciting life will become.  Spiritual awareness will be amplified multiple times, and you will more than likely have a clearer awareness of your life and purpose than before.  You then need to act on this.

Intensive prayer and fasts for Christians are the spiritual equivalent (but opposite) of Ouija boards, séances and tarot cards for the dark side and both reap spiritual fruits that are undeniable.  We definitely want to be on the right side of these matters and the more we work on ourselves, and walk with Jesus, the more resistance we will have from the other side.  We will also gain a greater perspective and ability to discern friends from foes no matter what camp they come from.

Preparation for a fast:  stop all caffeine products at least a week prior to the fast.  Also try to go to a more vegetarian diet, as the body responds better to food depravation if eating fruits and vegetables before hand.  If you choose to go the juice route, getting a good juicer is the best route, as most store purchased juices are pasteurized and have sugars and preservatives added. (This restarts the digestive process).  You can also alternate between water and juice by alternating days.  Immediately stop the fast if you have health emergencies, and definitely cut back on physical activities during that time.

HOW DOES GOD SPEAK TO US?

George Offerman

I have been often asked  “How do you know when God is speaking to you?  A question that has been pondered throughout the ages, for sure.  There are as many answers as there are people no doubt, but there does need to be a solid foundation in which to consider the above question.  This list is not comprehensive for sure, but the following observations have been gathered by asking literally hundreds of people, who have demonstrated their faith by their fruits.

The most basic way God speaks to us is through scripture.  We have this wonderful book, the Bible that some have described as “Mankind’s instruction manual”.  The majority of concerns and life issues are answered in scripture and it is up to us to conduct ourselves in this manner.  There are some, for example, that try to justify abortion as an act of ‘free will’ of the individual, but they are confusing the ABILITY to abort with the RIGHT to abort.  I can have the ability and means to rob a bank but it does not give me the right to do this, even if I need the money and have no job.

Our actions must be in alignment with scripture, or we know we are out of the will of God.  That is why Jesus described his word as being a double edged sword, cutting sharply and exact.  Jesus also quoted scripture to Satan during his temptations in the desert.  For most people, this is sufficient to lead their lives and will lead to good fruits.

This appears to be the most basic of the elements, and the most difficult to master.  Scripture gives us our basic blueprint to most of life’s issues, and like a toddler, we need to learn how to walk before running, and this needs to be mastered before one proceeds to the level of looking into greater matters of faith.

The next level is people.  God has used people to deliver his message basically from the beginning of history.  Find people tight in their faith walk, and more than likely, they can confirm or deny our concerns and will lovingly give us feedback to guide us in our journey. Likewise, if we are doing the right thing, we will have enemies that will attempt to thwart us.  Being in the will of God will bring about consistency in reaction: affirmation by the faithful, and disdain from the faithless.

When we are following scriptures, and getting positive feedback from those in the faith, and resistance from those on the other side, we then are prepared for another level of God speaking to us: internal confirmation, conviction and peace.  This is often accomplished through intensive periods of praying and fasting.  Through intensive praying and fasting, we begin to access the ‘deep thoughts’ of God.  We also have to be prepared to act on the answers we get, as they will come across as very strong convictions.

Finally God can speak directly to us through dreams, visions, apparitions and angelic visits.  These seem to be the rarest and also need to be discerned the most as this is also the realm of demonic activity.  It is from God if it is consistent with scripture and biblical principles and occurs exactly as revealed.  Otherwise it is counterfeit and should be disregarded.

God also speaks through nature, and this starts getting into the realm that transcends the individual, and can affect a region, nation, or world.  I t can be in the form of disasters such as earthquake, flood, drought, storms, fire or other natural consequences.  It can also come in the form of blessings, such as harvest rains, mild to moderate seasons, safety in the midst of chaos, or even as simple as clearings of weather patterns for a beautiful sunset or family events.  God’s use of nature is often redemptive, but often painful and used as a ‘wake up call’ to realign his people.

The last way God communicates with us are judgments, or what God himself has revealed as his ‘strange works’. Again, judgments can affect the individual, region, nation or world, and is punitive in nature.  This is done as a last resort, and to put a stop to the spread of sin.  Judgments on a larger scale usually come in the form of war, pestilence, famine, and natural disasters.  God ALWAYS sends a warning before judgments occur and gives a ‘final out’.  If heeded judgment can be delayed, as in Nineveh or eliminated altogether.

There are other means of communication that one can come up with, but this is a basic guide to discerning God’s will for your life, and learning how to ask, listen then act upon your divine mission while here in this life.
